Muncie NewsTrain will be a full Saturday of digital training on March 24, 2018, at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center on the Ball State University campus. Training sessions include:

  • Viral video: shooting shareable smartphone video, with Val Hoeppner, director of the Center for Innovation in Media at Middle Tennessee State University;
  • Data-driven enterprise off your beat, with USA Today's Mark Nichols;

  • Mobile newsgathering: better reporting with your smartphone, also with Hoeppner;

  • Better time management with beat mapping, with NewsTrain Project Director Linda Austin;

  • Using social media as powerful reporting tools, with The Indianapolis Star's Amy Bartner. 

Early-bird registration is $75 through Feb. 24; the rate increases to $85 on Feb. 25. Competitive diversity scholarships are available for journalists, journalism students and journalism educators from diverse backgrounds; see the workshop page for how to apply.
