Seattle NewsTrain will be a full Saturday of digital training on Nov. 11, 2017, at the University of Washington. Training sessions include:

  • Maximizing social media to get your story read, with NowThis News' P. Kim Bui;
  • Using social media as powerful reporting tools, also taught by Bui;
  • Making smart choices in mobile storytelling, with USC's Laura E. Davis;
  • Producing data-driven enterprise stories off your beat, with Arizona State's Steve Doig; and
  • Using state and federal open-records laws effectively, with open-government lawyer Angela Galloway.

In addition, former Seattle Times Executive Editor Mike Fancher will speak at lunchtime on bolstering your newsroom's credibility: "True Journalism: The Paradox of Tradition and Transformation." 

Early-bird registration is $75 through Oct. 11; the rate increases to $85 on Oct. 12. Competitive diversity scholarships are available for journalists, journalism students and journalism educators from diverse backgrounds; apply by Oct. 4.
